I will admit to be extremely undecided as to who I'm voting for in this election year. On any given day, my opinions can vary wildly. I even took one of those "Who Should I Vote For?" Quizzes. It wasn't definitive one way or the other. I answered 7 questions in favor of one candidate and 6 in favor of the other, and I'm sorry, but that's just not a wide enough margin.
Abbie, however, has her mind made up. They had a mock-election today at school. All the kids got to cast their ballot for either of the two candidates. I don't know if they told them at all what the candidates represented or not, but I'd bet that 6 year old children don't generally understand politics.
Abbie voted for Barack Obama. Which surprised me just a bit. I haven't voiced any biases one way or another at home, so I asked her why she voted for him.
"Well, I like his name. It's funny. Barack Obama. I like it. Also, he has nice brown skin. It looks good on him."
In my opinion, that's as good of a reason as any other. And better than the reasons that some people are voting for their candidates.
And just in case Abbie's school is a litmus test for the nation... John McCain won by two votes.
P.S. Miles stated that he was voting for President Monson. And really, isn't that a better option?

Scooter voted for Obama, too. Because he wants us to have lower taxes. He's a one-issue voter!
I go back and forth myself. Just a few more days...
Isa's vote is for Jesus. I'd vote for him, too, if he were on the ticket. But for now, my vote is for Obama. You can vote early:
Early voting days for the 2008 General Election are October 20 - November 2 from 10-6 on weekdays and from noon-4 on weekends

sabra! i thought you were voting for me!
and, the beauty of living in utah is that you don't really have to worry about who you're going to vote for. your vote won't matter anyway.
abbie is gorgeous and miles sounds so sweet.
Kyle voted for Obama because during one of his speeches, he noticed the audience laughing. Oh, and he thinks his ears look funny on his head. It's a good thing 7 year olds can't vote.
Well I'm so encouraged by our nation I almost voted for Mickey Mouse, but I didn't. I think I like Miles choice the best :)
My kids LOVE the name Obama. They walk around sometimes just saying it over and over again: "Obamaaaaahhhh."
I'm for President Monson. Let's write him in and see if he'd take the job, okay?
I'm with Miles on this one.
I think I'm voting for Abbie.
i am also very confused. i lean more toward one but i like the other as a man and think he would do well also. oh, the electionitis is killing me:)
Abbie and Anna are getting so much older, we will have to make a trip out to visit you guys soon.
Kyler said he would vote Obama, because he likes basketball. I'm with Miles, smart kid!
