What's Going Down

Stockings at your house.

Who stuffs the stockings? Well, Santa, of course. But who.

You? Your husband?

What's in them?

Do you stuff your own? Or if your husband does it, does he stuff his own?

Why do I always seem to forget about stockings until the last possible minute?!

My answers:
When I was growing up, my mom always stuffed all the stockings. After awhile, she started refusing to buy stocking stuffers for herself. So, there were some Christmases where all my mom had was an orange and a candy cane. Not even kidding.

Around here, I do the stocking stuffing. But I make sure Matt is fully aware that he needs to stuff my stocking. I would be really upset if I only had an orange and a candy cane.

What's in them? The kids each get a book. The adults get a magazine. It totally takes up a ton of space and fills out the stocking nicely. Plus, it's a nice read for a leisurely Christmas day. Always oranges. Always a candy cane. Some toiletries. Some small toys or card games. Nuts maybe. Sometimes an apple.

I stuff those babies, but I don't stuff mine or my husbands. And why is it that I totally blow my Christmas budget w/ stocking stuffers? Who stuffs in your house?

I love stockings! I do the boys and John, but he does mine. (Mostly. I usually throw in a few things.)

Our stockings, according to family tradition, seriously overflow. Typically we get a book, our favorite treats, small toys, and toiletries (no idea why, but it's a great reminder to change our toothbrushes).

On Christmas morning, all we get before breakfast is our stockings (so that mom doesn't miss any of the fun presents!) Because we overfill them, it's always enough to keep them occupied for that long.

And I don't plan out what goes in them. I just pick things up as I'm out Christmas shopping and then do a final once over a week or so before to make sure they balance out.

ughh. Thank you though. I wouldve forgotten. Yet another thing goes on my list for tomorrow - the day that was supposed to be relaxing...
but to answer your question, we do the kids together and then usually slip a few surprises into each others. we stick with food for the most part, and try to do things that Santa might have on hand. Oranges, peanuts, little candies that we don't ever really see in stores, maybe a slinky, miniature bananas, dried fruit rewrapped at home, oh - and ALWAYS those miniature boxes of cereal. My parents always did that and it turned into some serious trading every Christmas morning...I'll give my frosted flakes for your cocoa puffs...

i buy all the stocking stuffers and candy. my mom give us CHOCOLATE ORANGES and KEY LIME TRUFFLES....mmmmmmm...i never skimp on stocking stuffers becasue that is the only thing we were allowed to open up at 6 in the morning before my parents woke up. otherwise, we had to eat breakfast and clean up first, then do our systematic gift opening. lol

The women always stuff the stockings. My mom was the same way, always stuffing her own stocking and then acting surprised.

Tyler is fairly good about it but it stresses him out, so I have bought a little bag that says COAL for myself. I told him he must put a gift card inside (to anywhere). It is a new tradition that I think I am going to like.

I always put in crayons, colored pencils, pens, pencils, journal, candy, breakfast item, toothbrush, big hershey bar, cards, gift card, beanie baby or stuffed animal, deodorant, perfume, sometimes jewelry or a watch, cheap toy that i normally say no to, my parents always put oranges and apples in ours, I did that once and found them in the bottom of the stocking the next year, haven't done it since LOL!

My mom always stuffed and always nearly all with candy. TONS of candy. Ridiculous amounts. Maybe one small gift. She still does stocking for us--ALL of us.

For our own family, though, I do the stockings. No candy (since grandma's house will fill us up on that). Underwear, toothbrush, orange, small gift, a juice box and a breakfast-passing treat to eat whilst opening gifts.

My kids get socks and undies in theirs. Don't tell them that other people get good stuff.

Mostly me...but I don't stuff them until new years eve. We forgot one year, and then decided to just tell the kids that santa was coming back on new years. Well... everything is 75% + off after christmas, so we kept with the tradition. It is actually really fun to have one last thing to look forward to.

Merry Christmas!

It has always been a tradition in our house for me to completely zone-out about stockings until about 10pm on Christmas Eve, when it was too late to do anything about it.
