What's Going Down

The Truth Is.

Here's the deal, folks.
I get a lot (A LOT) of comments about how on Earth it is that I possibly have time to craft. To knit, to sew, to scrapbook.

"You have five children, where do you find the time??!"

Folks, if something is important to you, you MAKE time. I go to bed late. I give up naps. My house is rarely clean all at once (we don't live in squalor, either!). Crafting is that important to me.

And why? It is my outlet. My way of making sense of my life.
For some people, they make time to read. Others watch TV. Others exercise. I craft.

I am editing this post to add that it greatly helps that I have a highly supportive spouse.

My friend and I have this conversation regularly. She always feels that question is a backhanded accusation that she must be neglecting other things. And it's just not true.

I totally agree with what you said. I rarely watch TV. I don’t even know the last time I napped, or got to bed before 11p.m. I put my kids to bed early. I no longer play on message boards:)I use my crockpot regularly. I sew while my kids play around me, often ON me. I make time because it's important to me. Other things have top priority, but sewing/crafting still finds a way to get done.

Here here. Well said. :)
And may I add that if a mommy of multiple children doesn't have an outlet, home isn't the happiest place on earth. We have to learn to take time for ourselves. Great post!

I figured that Abby was making dinner and doing the laundry by now.

That's right. If you love doing something you will make time for it. It helps keep us moms sane.

That makes sense. I think it's hard for me to "make time" because I see too many things I want to do. I have a hard time focusing myself on one small thing at a time...can't see the forest for the trees I think they say...I think it's great that you are productive with your craft!

Ah yes, my figure would be happier if exercise were higher on the list, but that has NEVER happened. I go read a few good books every now and then. That always seems to make the cut.

I agree!! Stay-at-homers spend so much time taking care of their families, they often forget that their happiness/sanity is just as important as getting that next load of laundry in. WTG that you have that already figured out... :):)

Wrote a whole post on the very same topic. It's a priority! And I have a great hubby, too. And I stay up way late. Nice to know others "get it".
